Scubby’s Point Light House

Located at the mouth of the Saugeen River, Scubby’s Point is a great spot to view Lake Huron’s beautiful sunsets, watch a storm come in, or take a seat and spend the day fishing. The mouth of the Saugeen River that flows into Lake Huron was always known to be a native camping or temporary living site for our people however through time, the history of it had deteriorated or been lost. However more recently, in 2010, through a new sewer infrastructure project, it was found that just north of the light house there was an archeological site that uncovered artifacts that date back 2000 years and many older. Through this excavation many artifacts were discovered and are now on display at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre through the exhibit “The River Mouth Speaks”.
